Your Mission
Baan Dek Foundation is currently seeking a Volunteer Video Editor & Translator who will play a crucial role in finalizing impactful video content for our various initiatives. By ensuring the accuracy of translations and the quality of video editing, you will contribute to our mission of improving the lives of vulnerable families. Working under the direct supervision of the Communications Manager, you will help bring our stories to life through polished, bilingual video content, ensuring that our message reaches and resonates with a broader audience. This volunteer position is essential in supporting Baan Dek's ongoing efforts to create systemic change in the construction sector and beyond.

The main responsibilities of the Employee and will include, but are not restricted to the following:

  • Edit pre-filmed video content to meet project requirements.

  • Translate Thai spoken content into English for subtitles.

  • Ensure accuracy and synchronization of subtitles with video content.

  • Collaborate with our team to ensure high-quality output.


Your Profile

QUALIFICATIONS

Language requirements: Fluency in Thai is mandatory. Excellent command of written and spoken English. Other languages such as Khmer, Tai Yai, and Burmese are considered a plus. 


Education/ Experience:  

●       Studies: Graduate qualifications (or a combination of undergraduate and relevant work experience) or a similar background like Film Production, Communication, and Media. 

●       Working knowledge and skills: 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace is required. 

  • Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).

  • Bilingual proficiency in Thai and English, especially in translation and subtitle creation.

  • A strong interest in a human/child rights-based approach and social development is necessary.

  • Experience with non-profit organizations or in the humanitarian sector would also be considered an asset.


●       Professional Experience:

  • Previous experience in video editing and translation is required.

  • Experience working on projects with tight deadlines is an advantage.


Other skills and competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, including experience working in a cross-cultural and international environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in both video editing and translation.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Passionate about storytelling and creating impactful content.

Working hours: Full time - Monday to Friday with occasional weekend and evenings

About Baan Dek Foundation

Baan Dek Foundation is a dynamic non-profit dedicated to empowering marginalized children and families living in urban poverty, particularly in construction camps across Thailand. 

The Thai construction sector employs approximately 700,000 migrants out of which 40% are women. BDF and UNICEF’s evidence-based study states around 60,000 children live with parents in construction site camps with slum-like conditions. These children and their parents face critical challenges in accessing essential services such as education, healthcare and child protection.

To address this challenge, BDF supports children and their parent’s immediate needs (access to healthcare, education, and child protection services), empowers their communities through a peer-to-peer approach (training for youth, adults, and women) and creates systemic change in the Thai construction sector through the Building Social Impact Initiative.

Baan Dek also powers a spin-off social enterprise: Dao Ethical Gifts, which empowers vulnerable women in Thailand.
