Established in 2002, Baan Dek Foundation is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization that aims to provide access to essential education, health, and child protection services to disadvantaged children and families living in construction site camps. Through field projects and advocacy activities, BDF aims to improve access to services for the estimated 60,000 children connected to the construction sector in Thailand. 

As part of the systemic impact program work, BDF has launched the Building Social Impact (BSI) Initiative, a private sector engagement program to work in partnership with construction and real estate companies to improve the living conditions and access to public services for workers and children living in construction site camps across Thailand. Under this program, BDF has developed a BSI Framework for Action, 12 practical recommendations for companies to undertake in their construction site camps and a Toolkit for conducting self-assessments and developing action plans to improve the conditions for workers and their families in construction camps.
Your Mission

Job Overview: 

The Training Officer will train key relevant staff of BSI member construction companies on the BSI Framework using the BSI tools.  She/He will provide follow-up technical support to company staff to implement the company action plan. She/he will also coordinate and carry out data collection activities and analysis to ensure quality service delivery and the efficacy of companies’ actions on the conditions for workers and their families living in the companies’ camps.


Role and responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Deliver the BSI Training Package to BSI member construction companies' relevant staff 

  • Provide remote coaching support to BSI member companies, including facilitating linkages with external service providers such as CSOs, schools, medical centers etc.

  • Record and input data from training activities, including attendance list as well as observations and reflections from the BSI Training team 

  • Conduct data analysis of the Training Team’s reflections and company staff’s feedback on the training and write up summaries with recommendations for improvements or adaptations of the training content

  • Coordinate data collection activities with the Research, Monitoring and Program Quality Coordinator and support analysis and summary of findings

  • Monitor the company's progress toward its action plan to improve the well-being of workers and children in camps and access to services

  • Identify and communicate to the Systemic impact team challenges faced by companies or service providers and participate in a lesson learnt process. 

Other:

  • Support in promoting a constructive and productive working environment among the team. Support information sharing, transparency, and dialogue among the staff and partners

  • Support the Management Team in day-to-day missions and projects. The Intern shall observe the organization’s values and objectives and will commit to facilitating all procedures and field activities to ensure the sound management of Baan Dek Foundation’s programs

Your Profile

Education

  • Graduate qualifications (or a combination of undergraduate and relevant work experience) in sociology, psychology, education, law or a similar discipline


Qualifications -  Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience, including 3 years of demonstrated experience as a trainer or facilitator

  • Demonstrated experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection design, implementation and analysis

  • Strong skills in using Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets 

  • Strong interest in human/ child rights-based approach and social development 

  • Strong interest in collaboration with the private sector 

  • Knowledge of responsible business practices, the UNGPs, SDGS and social sustainability is preferred

  • Experience with non-profit organizations or in the humanitarian sector is an asset 


Language requirements: 

  • Fluency in Thai is essential

  • Advanced language skills in Burmese is a strong advantage

  • Good verbal and written proficiency in English is strongly preferred 


Other skills and competencies: 

  • Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate, including experience in a cross-cultural setting  

  • Stakeholder engagement skills and ability to collaborate effectively, including in cross-cultural settings

Important note

Working hours: Full time - Monday to Friday with occasional weekend and evenings
